525 Ferry Road

Updated: Sep 30, 2022

Situated on in the North West of Edinburgh, 525 Ferry road has been transformed into a hub for charities, start-ups, social enterprises and creatives.

The former State Street office lay unoccupied before Edinburgh Palette took occupancy, working in collaboration with People Know How to fill the space with Edinburgh's crucial support services and creative start ups in need of functional and collaborative workspace.

Gaining emergency/essential service status during the Covid-19 pandemic because of the nature of the services operating within, this building remained open and expanded its occupancy throughout the various phases of lockdown.

People Know How reached out to Zero Cost Scotland to aid in the furnishing of this facility. ZCS connected the tenant with sustainability partners who were able to pass resources onto each tenant in this facility, allowing the Covid-19 reactive orgs to focus funding on their charitable objectives and direct funds to those struggling to navigate the many hardships of the pandemic.

Various Recreate Certified members contributed to the furnishing of 525 Ferry Road in various capacities. Notable contributions were made by the SFRS, The University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Leisure.
